The DSM-IV organizes its diagnoses according to a five-axis system with each axis representing a different aspect of the disorder

The Five Axes

    Axis I: Clinical disorders including major mental health diseases
    Axis II: Personality disorders and intellectual delay
    Axis III: General medical conditions relevant to diagnosis
    Axis IV: Psychosocial and environmental problems
    Axis V: Global assessment of functioning (GAF) score from 0-100
