The biceps load I test is used to assess for the integrity of the superior glenoid labrum.

Performing the Test

  1. Patient is positioned supine, arm passively abducted to 90°, elbow flexed to 90°, with forearm in supination
  2. Patient is then asked to flex elbow against examiner resistance
  3. The test is considered positive if this elicits pain
  4. Sensitivity: ≥83%; specificity: ≥90%
